Join Team River Runner, Fredericksburg VA Chapter as we host the Team River Runner Mid-Atlantic Region for a weekend of whitewater paddling on the beautiful North Branch Potomac River (Class II-III) near Keyser, WV. We're hosting a fun, beginner/intermediate trip from Friday, April 3rd to Sunday, April 5th. (Last year the first release date was canceled due to low water levels in the lake. The backup dates are 17-19 April 2026).
The plan is to arrive Friday afternoon/evening and depart Sunday afternoon.
We'll be staying in rustic cabins right at the put-in at Barnum Whitewater Area, with five cabins reserved. All cabins have electricity, bunk beds or beds, and all cabins have space for an air mattress if needed. Women will have their own cabin(s). There are also more cabins available for rent if you would like to book your own. There are 9 first-come, first-served tent sites also available. (There are other camping/hotel/lodging options in the area as well).
We'll be cooking up delicious group meals throughout the weekend but feel free to bring your own and you're welcome to use our cooking equipment.
TRR Fredericksburg has kayaks, inflatable kayaks, and raft (with guide) available for participants. There are dam releases on both Saturday and Sunday.
The water is always very cold, so immersion gear is required (wetsuit or drysuit). TRR-FXBG has a very limited number of Chapter drysuits and wetsuits available for use. Priority will be given to active Chapter members.
